Which Material Is Good For Camping Tent

Feb 08, 2023

The materials of outdoor camping tent can be divided into fabric, lining, bottom material and pole.
1. Fabric
Compared with different fabrics, nylon silk is thin and light, suitable for climbers and hikers. Oxford cloth is thick and heavy, suitable for camping or small group tents. From the perspective of waterproof coating, although PVC has good waterproof performance, it will become hard and brittle in winter, and is easy to wrinkle or break. PU coating can not only overcome the defects of PVC, but also waterproof. The waterproof pressure of PU coating for many times can reach more than 2000mm.
2. Lining
Lining (inner curtain material) is usually made of cotton nylon with good permeability. From the use point of view, the performance of nylon yarn is better than that of cotton cloth. When camping, the tent is easy to absorb moisture, cotton cloth is not easy to mildew when it is cool, and nylon silk is easy to dry and not easy to mildew.
3. Base material
The main functions of the tent bottom are waterproof, moisture-proof and dustproof. The selection of basic materials also determines the grade of the tent. Low-grade tents are usually made of polyethylene
PVC is also used as a base material, which requires low cost. Although double-sided laminated polyethylene has waterproof and moisture-proof functions, it is easy to wear and leak. In winter, it is the bane of PVC base material, and Oxford cloth is coated with PU as the base material, which is stronger, cold resistant and waterproof than PE.
4. Stay rod
The pillars of the tent are the skeleton of the tent. The quality of the skeleton material not only affects the life of the tent, but also affects the stability of the tent. The early tent poles were usually made of steel, which not only increased the weight of the tent, but also had poor elasticity. The improved tent frame adopts glass fiber support, which reduces weight, improves elasticity and reduces cost. Therefore, most tent manufacturers use this material as a support, but the strength and robustness of the glass fiber support is not ideal. If the bracket is thickened to increase strength, it will also increase weight. C In particular, the EASTON brackets made of aviation aluminum have excellent indicators, so they are mainly used for high-end tents.
Expand small knowledge: methods and techniques for building tents
A. Location decision
After considering the wind direction and terrain, choose a flat place.
B. Inspection of tent equipment
Pour out the articles collected in the bag and check all parts one by one. In order to facilitate the withdrawal of the tent and avoid missing anything, it should be recorded first.
C. Laying floor mat
After the floor mat is paved, fix the four corners with nails. If it is in a place with much moisture, lay a mat first, and then lay a mat on it.
D. Erect the strut and pull out the main rope
Insert the lower part of the pillar into the holes at both ends of the floor pad, and at the same time, the tip of the upper part of the pillar into the holes of the two columns of the curtain building, and pull up the left and right main ropes to avoid the left and right tilt. In this way, the main shape of the tent is formed.
E. Adjust the main rope, pull up the angle rope and waist rope
Adjust the shape of the tent with the support rope attached to the main rope, and erect the two pillars vertically on the ground. Secondly, adjust the angle rope and waist rope with the support rope to make the tent appear.
F. Fixed wall
Connect the tent bottom cloth, floor mat and the lower part of the wall.
